Valaam Icon of the Mother of God. One of the greatest treasures in the possession of the Monastery of New Valamo in Finland is the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God of Valaam. According to the inscription, the icon was painted in 1878. With her right hand, she holds Christ. Christ blesses with His right hand & holds an orb, topped with a cross in His left hand, signifying that He is the Creator of the world.
